Donna explores line through ink and stitch sketches of places visited. Her career in embroidered fine art textiles has brought together her interest in the majestic structures of architecture and machine stitch: connecting the mechanics of her machine, manmade and text, using translucent materials to link personal stories with each of the places she draws.
Colour is used sparingly with thread, left long to accentuate the undrawn line creating movement within each drawing.
She takes commissions on more personal places connecting closely with places of employment, homes for occasion such as retirement, and favourite destinations .
Based in Nottingham Donna, teaches art, textile design, multimedia and embroidery at University.
She also creates installation work for exhibitions and artists books using thread, paper and hand and machine stitch.
