David Varney [Biography]

I've always been a keen artist, enjoying using traditional mediums to paint traditional real life scenes but a traumatic life event in 2016 left me needing to pursue a different type of art and so I began to experiment.

I wanted to create more contemporary pieces of art; truly original pieces that would bring a sense of beauty and intrigue to any wall space. Resin gave me a fluidity and flexibility to create wonderfully reflective and tactile 3D artwork, creating art that not only satisfied me as an artist, but allowing me to create artwork that invoke emotions, interest and intrigue in others.

As a forest conservation volunteer, I take inspiration from nature, indulging in what I love and hopefully portraying that passion to others.

Style of work:
Crafted embellishments are incorporated into layers of resin to create a 3D effect. By using paint, pigments, inks and metallics with resin, a reflective and tactile piece of art is slowly built up over time into layers, which are then manipulated with tools, airflow and heat, in order to create a free-flowing, contemporary piece of original 3D resin art.

Due to the techniques used, every piece of art is truly original and although inspiration can be drawn from other works, no two pieces will ever be the same, assuring collectors that no one else in the world owns that piece of art.
