Sam Hubbard is an illustrator and contemporary artist living by the sea in West Sussex.
His recent work is heavily focused on nature and the climate emergency, combining black ink fineline illustration with bright neon sprays - creating an eye-catching and thought-provoking collection.
He finds inspiration mainly in nature - the English Channel, Sussex Countryside, swimming, surfing, and running, and when he isn't at the drawing board can often be found floating around in his little boat in the River Arun. He draws influence from an eclectic variety of artists ranging from Quentin Blake to Jean-Michel Basquiat.
Coming from a background in graphic design and art direction, he has gradually built his online illustration portfolio under the pseudonym 5am Illustration on Instagram, before experimenting with larger-scale artwork during lockdown. He has also recently illustrated an award-winning flash-fiction novella.
