Gina fisher is an oil painter from Cornwall. Her work is becoming easily recognised in the art world, with people captivated by each pieces atmospheric, dreamy ambience and embellishment details, such as her signature drips of resin, gold leaf and diamond dust. She is a published writer to, and writes a poem to go alongside each piece. This creates a story, further inviting you to reflect on life, our society and to tap into emotions and memories- even just for a moment.
I always painted as a child and It transcended into my teenage years. I began to let lifes distractions take over but I knew in my heart that Id naturally drift back to paint and paintbrushes at some point. I used my creativity to become a hair stylist for many years, working for the prestigious Toni and Guy franchise. It helped me build great relationships and hear stories from clients of all ages and backgrounds. It gave me different perspectives on life and I think that has undeniably helped me to become the artist I am today. I very suddenly developed epilepsy out of the blue in my early 20's and I eventually decided to stop working in salons. I took some time out and spent some time at home. And on one bleak, rainy day, I decided to dig out my paint box again and make a piece of art for my house. The passion for art had be reignited. I wrote and illustrated a book about epilepsy for children to help them understand the conditions complexity, which is available through Waterstones. I believe that sometimes good things come from bad situations. Luckily, my seizures stopped. But it was a scary, confusing time that has had a lasting effect on me- I will always continue to enjoy painting as a way of expressing my emotions.
