Originally from St. Albans, Ashley is now based in the peaceful Suffolk countryside, where the rhythms of rural life provide daily inspiration. A self-taught artist with a deep love for animals and nature, Ashley creates expressive, light-hearted paintings that celebrate the quirky charm and character of farmyard and country animals.
Ashleys journey into art has always been driven by a love of the outdoors and the creatures that inhabit it. This passion was further strengthened by time spent working at an animal sanctuary in the Lake District - a place of healing and harmony that left a lasting impression. Caring for animals in that environment deepened Ashleys understanding of their unique personalities and soulful presence, something that now shines through in each painting.
Suffolks sweeping fields, woodlands, and diverse wildlife provide daily creative fuel, but the Lake District also still holds a special place in Ashleys heart. Regular family visits to this tranquil region combined with memories of sanctuary life, continue to influence Ashleys workencouraging a style that is both joyful and rooted in compassion for animals.
"By using a mixture of acrylic paints and pastels, I try to capture the soul and character of all the animals I paint and give each of them their own individual, quirky personality. I like to keep my artwork light and fun in the hope that it can spark a smile. - Ashley
