We are thrilled to announce new signing, Chris Ellison, who joins us in October.
Originally studying to become a sculptor at the Camberwell School of art in the early 70's Chris has always had a keen interest in the arts and his passion soon moved over to painting which then became his first choice of creative output.
The work he now produces retains his structural training acquired during his sculptural tuition in the use of strong objects such as trees and boulders to ground his paintings whilst allowing the surroundings to remain free and almost abstract in their nature.
With a distinctive colour palette, Chris's work is instantly recognisable, and his love of both the landscape and human nature is evident in his paintings.
Chris can often be found on the deserted Sussex beaches and the busy promenades, as much of his work is spontaneous in nature as he loves to be taken by a mood or a moment from a broad subject base, whether it be the mildly comedic scenes in his life studies or depicting the strength of nature in the form of the granite rocks and swelling sea which occupy the beach close to his home.
Cloud Gallery are extremely proud to be working with Chris and his work can be seen across our Gallery network.
We are delighted to welcome Paul Fearn to our galleries this September. Inspired by the naturual world, working exclusively in metal, his canvases are sheets of copper and brass which he carefully corrodes and engraves. He is constantly pushing the boundaries of the control he can achieve over the patination process, always ensuring a finish befitting the creatures forms and environments. We have a beautiful collection of Paul's work which is already proving to be popular across all our galleries.
We also have the great pleasure in welcoming Iva Troj to our independent artist roster. Iva's beautiful and evocative work is a sight to behold. Contemporary Art Excellence Artist of The Year 2016 and 2013 Towry Best of England Award Winner, Iva seamlessly incorporates her vast experience of traditional painting techniques with postmodern elements to create engaging and stunningly detailed works that challenge the notion of societal conformity. We are super excited about Iva's beautiful work, a uniquely talented artist and definitely one to watch.
2018 brings exciting new signings aplenty! First up, Magnus Gjoen joins us and we couldn't be more excited. Magnus questions the notions of beauty by juxtaposing a range of styles and media, incorporating a street and pop aesthetic with a fine art approach.
His art offers a modern spin on old masterpieces or manipulates powerful and strong objects into something fragile yet beautiful. By blending two genres from completely different worlds, his art is about rediscovery, taking things from the past and renewing them for the contemporary market.
We will be stocking Magnus's beautifully exectuted limited editions in bespoke frames (also available unframed) across all our galleries.
New for 2018 Dan Pearce joins Cloud with his hugely popular trademark mixed media originals and limited edition aluminium editions.
Taking inspiration from street and pop art and juxtapositioning it with fine art, his work is bold and confident in style often completely transforming iconic portraits with his own inimitable style and blurring the lines between new media, pop and digital art.
Michael Olsen joins the Cloud ranks in December and we are just a little bit thrilled to have his stunning pieces on the walls!
Michael creates realistic butterfly art out of feathers, which are hand painted and meticulously arranged as if floating on the wall and encased in simple acrylic display boxes.
He aims to create work that is contemporary and visually stimulating.
With a huge following in the UK and his artwork selling instantly in major London exhibitions, Michael Olsen is definitely an artist not to be missed.
Super happy to announce Louise McNaught has joined the Cloud Gallery artist roster - and we couldn't be happier!
Louise's stunning limited editions and mixed media originals will be gracing our walls as from mid-September. Her beautiful work is inspired by her love of nature and animals, and in her own words she hopes 'to share with the viewer the awe that the natural world inspires within her'.
